Summary 4 - Least necessary

posted on the blog of "Three Men in a Boat" July 29 under the title "bare minimum"
Stowed everything in three watertight compartments of each kayak: tent, mattress, sleeping bag, camp kitchen, water (lots of water, at least 12 liters per head in the summer if they consume about 3 liters per day, if not more!), Food dishes, glasses and cutlery (those "magic": fold up and almost disappear, taking up minimal space!), A couple of spare shirts (each trip, Tatiana likes to draw a new one this year was inspired by the Palace of Knossos, of course), a suit of the national federation that has accompanied us in Scotland in 2008, a few books Reading (5 weeks because they can become very long if the weather keeps you grounded!), a travelogue: Tatiana year will also use a voice recorder, because they often complain of losing the thoughts born at sea and captured the feeling remains orphan of the words will be guaranteed to have the updates for People's Radio! And then
kayak, paddle, splash, jacket, shirt and lycra shorts, shoes, jacket water (because you never know, maybe that one day of rain spouts that the seasonal average damage on Crete in August!) and again costumes, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, first aid kit (for men) and repair kit (for boats), tow ropes and various security systems, earth sandals, socks and batteries for the cold nights.
Electronic equipment is growing from year to year and require an almost maniacal attention: a VHF, 2 GPS, a locator satellite, a mini computer to update the blog, a recorder, two phones, two cameras, three video cameras (which will lead you in the head with a welder's helmet ridiculous!) and some other deviltry like this ...
They all (or almost) with rechargeable batteries, so we are equipped with many beautiful car chargers, 2 batteries and 2 solar panels: a journey into the renewable energy!
Mounted on the rear axles of the kayak, the panels will be necessary to reload all of our scrap metal, including the front lights and my shaving razor!

Posted the 29th of July on the "Three Men on the boat" blog:
We store everything in the three watertight hatchs of each kayak: tent, air mattress, sleeping bag, kitchen, water (few water, at least 12 litres: in the summer we consume around 3 litres a day, maybe more!), flat, glasses and silver wares (the "magic": refolded, they almost disappear, occupying a least space!), a pair of T-shirts (Tatiana usually draws a new one for every trip: this year she was obviously inspired by the Cnosso Palace!), a jumpsuit of the national federation that we also used in Scotland 2008 sea kayak expedition, some books (5 weeks can become very long with the bad weather!), a diary of trip: this year Tatiana will also have a voice recorder, because she often lose the thoughts borned kayaking and the feeling remain so orphan of their words…
And then kayak, paddle, sprayskirt, lifejacket, shirts and shorts, kayak shoes, watertight jacket (because we may have the only rainy day of the season expected in Crete on August!); and then still hats, sunglasses, solar cream, first aid kit (for man and woman) and repair kit (for kayaks), tow line, sandals, socks and pile for the cold evenings…
The electronic instruments grow year by year and they require an almost maniacal care: a VHF, 2 GPSs, a satellite messenger, a mini computer to update the blog, a voice recorder, 2 mobile phones, 2 cameras, 3 videocameras and some other thing…
All the instruments (or almost) work with rechargeable batteries, therefore we provide 2 car loaders and 2 solar panels to reload lights and beard razor too: a trip with renewable energies!
